My Wines Of The Year

My Wines Of The Year

I very much enjoyed looking back through my notes and photographs of the wines I drank in 2022. Some have made the list as the occasion contributed to the wines being memorable. This is as it should because wine after all is made for sharing and making memories.

Chateau Haut Brion 1990 Pessac Leognan Bordeaux France - a bottle generously shared with me and simply stunning. I don't point score the wines I drink, but if I did this would be 100!

La Grand Dame Double Magnum 1990 Champagne France - another bottle from the generosity of others and my first experience of aged Champagne.

Chateau Musar Rose 2016 Bekaa Valley Lebanon - my first experience of the Musar rosé and it is like no other.

Croft Vintage Port 1963 - one of the best vintages of the 20th century and showing no signs of cracking up.

Chateau Angludet 2013 Imperial - at a family gathering for an 80th birthday celebration. Hit the spot perfectly

Riversby Semillon Sauvignon 2013 New Zealand - at 9 years of age this is drinking superbly.

Chateau La Lagune 1970 Haut Medoc Bordeaux France - a Christmas day bottle that was everything one hopes for in a wine in its 50's

Querciabella Chianti Classico 2018 Italy - I read good things about this wine and then Waitrose started selling it. It did not disappoint.

Masi Campofiorin 2018 Italy - this wine is effectively our house red and has been for many years.

Ara Sauvignon Blanc 2020 New Zealand - the house white!

Looking forward to 2023 and a 60th birthday means more Port and also some Grande Fine Champagne Cognac 1963 I've been saving. Along with an array of new wines to experience.
