Christmas Day Wines

Christmas Day Wines

Now we are into December we can start talking about Christmas wines and what you need to survive and enhance the day.

First up is Bucks fizz or a glass of Champagne, you could go Cava or Prosecco but Champagne just raises the bar. An English Sparkler would do well also and the best to now rival Champagne.

We usually have a fishy starter so a nice creamy Chardonnay with a little bottle age fits the bill. Either from the New world or a classic White Burgundy.

You could continue with white wine for turkey but with all the trimmings and accompaniments I like a classic claret. Again something with a little bottle age. If you're not a claret fan then head for a South African for some different grape varieties.

Finishing off with something sweet and for me it's usually a Port, although Sauternes works well also.

The links through this article will take you to some examples that we stock or alternatively if you are looking for wine to gift we have an excellent range of anniversary wines.

Merry Christmas,

Jonathan & Alison
